Job Summary 

 

This position is responsible for managing a technical team in support of supplier processes.  Provides technical support for continuous improvement efforts focused on supplier processes improvement and optimization. 

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Work in tandem with the purchasing group to identify component issues, evaluate suppliers and assist in the strategic selection of international suppliers for various commodities.
  • Supervises a staff of technical professionals; Exercises responsibility to hire, transfer, discharge, or discipline employees in accordance with company policy; Conducts performance appraisals and recommends salary actions; Implements policies, procedures, and work standards to meet established company goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the resolution of production process issues utilizing problem solving techniques to analyze, identify root cause(s), develop, and implement solutions. Leads a technical team in the resolution of NCR caused by suppliers, with the goal of keeping the production lines running.
  • Provides technical support for continuous improvement efforts by conducting root cause analysis then formulating and implementing corrective action proposals. Utilize statistical techniques to study processes and validate changes.
  • Performs research on technology, equipment, and tooling to improve internal and external process quality, yield, or cost.
  • Generates proposals for cost savings and implementation, including cost of ownership, ROI, and benefit analysis.
  • Oversees the engineering design of test equipment, assembly equipment, fixtures and tools located at suppliers’ sites.
  • Supervises the team responsible for external IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities.
  • Provides strategic and technical support to other departments and companies for new projects implying the strategic choice of external suppliers.
  • Suggests capital budget investments to maintain and improve fixtures, molds and automations located at suppliers’ sites.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience preferred for the position:

  • BS and 5 years of experience in related engineering or technical field.
  • Experience in supplier quality engineering and/or supplier quality enigeering team leadership highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical commodities.
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting and resolving component or process related issues with external suppliers.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the supervision of technical personnel.
  • Sound knowledge of related scientific disciplines, plus knowledge of general manufacturing practices, leading to a comprehensive knowledge of the complete product cycle.
  • Good oral and written international communication skills necessary.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience Knowledge in Medical Device process validations and Statistical techniques.

People Manager Accountabilities:

Effectively carries out the expectations of Werfen People Managers as defined in Werfen’s Role of the Manager program. Among others this includes maintaining regular, at minimum once a month, and transparent communication with the team through effective use of formal one-on-one meetings with direct reports and team meets. Managing performance issues and conflict proactively; uses judgement in consulting with department leadership and Human Resources. Responsibility for the team´s compliance in terms of training, and fulfilment of their tasks and objectives as well as onboarding of new employees and development of the existing team.
