Advancing Myositis Diagnosis: Autoantibody Interpretation, Clinical Decisions, and the Patient Voice

April 15, 2026, 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM (EDT)

Online

Join us for the next speaker in Werfen's ongoing Autoimmunity Speaker Series. Presented by Laura Martinez-Prat, PhD, this webinar will explore the clinical value of myositis autoantibody testing from both laboratory and clinician perspectives, highlighting how test selection, result interpretation, and timing can influence diagnostic accuracy and reduce delays along the patient journey.

This session will also feature a patient perspective through a conversation with patient advocate Manuel Lubinus, PhD, who will share his lived experience with Inclusion Body Myositis.

Laura Martinez-Prat, PhD will discuss how to:

  • Evaluate the clinical value of myositis autoantibodies in patient management, emphasizing how timely and appropriate testing, as well as careful interpretation of results with consideration for methodological limitations, can enhance care, inform laboratory reporting, and foster effective clinician–laboratory collaboration.
  • Discuss the patient journey in myositis, highlighting how access to, timing of, and interpretation of autoantibody testing influence patient experience, clinical decision-making, and long-term outcomes.
  • Summarize key scientific and clinical updates presented at the Global Conference on Myositis (GCOM) (March 23-26, 2026, Lisbon), with emphasis on recent advances in autoantibody research and their implications for laboratory testing and patient care.
