Position Summary

The Procurement Category Manager is responsible to source and procure goods and services needed to ensure logistics activities and operational efficiency for the Supply Chain Area.

Defines and applies the strategy of acquisition of goods and services for categories under his management for example: freight, small parcel couriers, packaging, racking, engineering services, IT and furniture.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, management, and performance of sourcing strategies within a given Category, to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Manages the assessment, selection and development of strategic suppliers to meet commodity cost and performance goals.
  • Managing supplier relationships, performing root cause analysis and resolutions, developing and monitoring supplier improvement plans
  • Establishes a strong network and fosters collaboration with customers, suppliers, key stakeholders and team members.
  • Researches and benchmarks current commodity market conditions/trends, developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capability, product knowledge, customer requirements and supply/demand challenges.
  • Responsible for the procurement of contracts including the management of cost, schedule and performance parameters. Developing contract specifications, work statements, and terms & conditions.
  • Develops bid packages, conducts bidders’ conferences, analyses and evaluates proposals, negotiates subcontract provisions, selects or recommends subcontractors, writes awards, and manages resulting subcontracts
  • Maintains vendor performance database and report metrics to Supply Chain management.

Min Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Education:
    • Business/Engineering/Supply Chain degree,
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years in procurement organizations.
  • Additional Skills/Knowledge:
    • Proven excellent procurement skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
    • Requires advanced customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of Business Intelligence software is a plus (Power BI, Qlik Sense)
    • Requires expertise in operating Microsoft Office programs.
    • Language: English and Spanish. A third European language highly recommended
