You’ll play a key role in guiding and evolving our CI/CD and DevSecOps practices in a regulated medical device environment, with a strong focus on reliability, automation, and compliance.
This role will manage the local DevOps team in Bedford, while partnering closely with a global DevOps team across San Diego, Barcelona, and Munich.
We're looking for someone who brings strong ownership, technical expertise, and the ability to influence and grow both people and practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and people leadership for the Bedford DevOps team, setting clear goals and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain a clear DevOps roadmap aligned with product and platform goals, including pipeline evolution, automation priorities, and infrastructure scalability.
- Drive design, implementation, and evolution of secure, scalable, and traceable CI/CD pipelines that support Yocto-based embedded platforms and modern application layers.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to software build times, with a focus on reducing cycle time and increasing feedback speed for development and test teams.
- Collaborate closely with test automation engineers to integrate automated quality gates, reporting, and test execution into the DevOps pipeline.
- Partner with software architects, OS leads, and application teams to align DevOps tooling and environments with platform and product architecture.
- Champion efforts to improve the day-to-day development and testing experience by simplifying environments, reducing friction in workflows, and removing recurring pain points.
- Support software compliance efforts by building traceable, auditable infrastructure and pipelines that meet design control and regulatory expectations.
- Work closely with global DevOps counterparts (San Diego, Barcelona, Munich) to define standards, share tooling, and improve global collaboration.
- Evaluate and integrate relevant cloud services (e.g., AWS) and AI/ML-based tools that can support pipeline optimization, code analysis, or defect detection.
- Implement observability and alerting to improve system reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure early detection of pipeline or environment issues.
- Coach and mentor team members to strengthen technical capability, autonomy, and cross-functional alignment.
Required & Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps or software engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a technical or team leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Jenkins, Bitbucket, Docker, Ansible, and Linux-based CI/CD environments.
- Working knowledge of test automation frameworks and integration strategies (e.g., Squish, Pytest, Allure Reports).
- Solid understanding of cloud services (AWS) and practical use of AI tools or ML-based automation in DevOps workflows is a plus.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, SBOM generation, and secure pipeline practices.
- Experience with SonarQube or similar tools for static code analysis and automated quality gates.
- Familiarity with software development under regulatory frameworks such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or FDA guidance.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and mentorship skills with a global mindset.
