We have an obligation to our employees, our customers, our partners, our communities and the environment to drive our business sustainably

At Werfen, we understand that sustainability means operating our business in a way that meets the needs of our employees, partners, and customers—both now and in the future—while safeguarding the health of our planet and preserving resources for future generations. Achieving this balance is essential not only for the environment but also for maintaining long-term financial health.

With this commitment in mind, the Immunoassay Technology Center has implemented targeted initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. These actions reflect our dedication to responsible business practices that prioritize sustainability at every level. Together, we are working toward a greener future while continuing to deliver innovative solutions to our partners.

Our vision is to be a leader in specialized diagnostics, contributing to the advancement of patient care around the world, while creating value for our stakeholders and fostering a culture of sustainability

Our Approach

As we look back on 2024, it’s clear that this year marked significant milestones in our journey toward sustainability. At the Immunoassay Technology Center, we’ve focused on implementing impactful initiatives, optimizing resource usage, and fostering eco-friendly practices across the organization. Here are some of the highlights that defined our progress over the past year:

Electric Car Chargers: Supporting Green Mobility

In 2024, we took a major step toward promoting cleaner transportation by installing electric vehicle (EV) chargers at key locations within our facilities. This initiative has made it easier for employees and visitors to transition to electric mobility, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to lower carbon emissions. By supporting green mobility, we’re paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Water Plant Improvements: Conserving Resources

This year, we successfully implemented changes to our purified water plant operations, achieving a remarkable reduction in monthly water consumption—from 2,000 m³ to 1,500 m³. These improvements reflect our commitment to preserving natural resources while enhancing operational efficiency. This 25% reduction is a testament to the power of innovation and responsible resource management.

ISO 14001:2015 Certification: A Milestone Achievement

In December 2024, we successfully renewed our ISO 14001:2015 certification, reaffirming our commitment to environmental sustainability and continuous improvement. This achievement followed a thorough audit process that confirmed the effectiveness of our Environmental Management System (EMS) in meeting global standards. The renewal not only validates our efforts to integrate environmental management into our operations but also strengthens our foundation for driving sustainable practices into the future.
