Position Summary

Legal counsel will provide, under the supervision of Legal Director and, when applicable, in close cooperation with other Legal Counsels, legal support, predominantly regarding contracts and public procurement, to Werfen Iberia Contracting business unit, with the possibility to expand the scope of the support to other Werfen subsidiaries and business units on a need to have basis.

Key Accountabilities


Provide recurrent legal support to Werfen Iberia Contracting business unit, including:

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with legal obligations regarding contracting and public procurement.
  • Drafting, review, negotiation and provision of recurrent legal advice in relation to all kind of private and public procurement contracts.
  • Provision of recurrent advice and closely monitoring of litigation and termination processes regarding contracting and public procurement, defining strategy, drafting, reviewing and negotiating the relevant documents and handling litigation.
  • Develop, provide legal input and deliver training courses to relevant persons to increase the client’s awareness of relevant legal issues.
  • Coordinating with external counsels, as applicable.

Internal Networking/Key relationships

To be determined based on department needs, to include interactions with such as:

  • Cooperation with all corporate departments (such as Finance & Control, Tax, Compliance, QA/RA, Internal Audit, IT, Logistics, HR etc.) as well as with the department managers of Werfen Iberia Contracting business unit and, as applicable, managers of Werfen subsidiaries.

Min Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Education: Law Degree. Master will be a plus.
  • Experience:
    • At least 9-10 years of proven experience in Spanish public procurement regulations and commercial law, either at a large law firm or at a big or medium-sized multinational company.
  • Additional Skills/Knowledge:
    • Sound legal knowledge.
    • Language: English proficiency.

Travel requirements:

  • Availability to travel to Portuguese Werfen Affiliates.
